1920 3rd December
Conditions were so appalling that after several attempts by the Ramon Cabrera to come alongside she had to break away and seek shelter off Llanddwyn.
It took seven hours to reach the shelter of Llanddwyn and to beach the Ramon Cabrera, by which time five men had been claimed by the stormy sea. The bodies came to shore at Llanddwyn.
The five men were to the storm are, Owen Owens (61 years of age), the Coxswain, William Thomas (19 years of age), Richard J. Hughes (17 years of age), Evan Hughes (34 years of age), Owen Jones (38 years of age).
Evan and Richard Hughes came from the same house, Cymyran at Cymyran. The story in the family is that Richard was washed overboard and Evan dove in after him.
Both were lost and now rest together contemplating eternity
Holyhead’s all-weather lifeboat named as the busiest all-weather boat in North Wales
Overall Anglesey experienced a busy period, with an increase in calls outs also reported at Beaumaris and Holyhead. With 35 launches, Beaumaris joined Penarth in South Wales as the joint second busiest inshore lifeboat in Wales. Holyhead’s all-weather lifeboat was the busiest all-weather boat in North Wales and the second busiest in Wales with 13 launches.
Figures show the 16 RNLI lifeboat stations between Flint and Aberystwyth launched 263 times over the summer months. we must remember The Coastguard and all the other emergency forces that worked alongside the lifeboat crews

About the trip
The trip will commence at 11am on Tuesday the 1st September 2009 at Lands End.
It will take 41 days to complete traveling some 4,279 miles and visiting 165
lifeboat stations.
I will be calling at the lifeboat stations between approximately 10am and 4.30pm
Monday to Saturday. This will leave time to catch up in the
event of any hold up and allow some time to meet up with other minis.
*The last day visiting lifeboat stations is on
Sunday 11th of October 2009.
Please note:
This trip is not about myself, it is about minis and
the R.N.L.I. and it requires the help of mini clubs, mini enthusiasts and
supporters of the R.N.L.I.

Holyhead lifeboat receives smart water kit from friendly PC
Holyhead, Moelfre, Beaumaris, and Trearddur Bay, are to benefit from a unique coding system to help protect the charity’s lifesaving equipment. This is all down to, PC David Owen who was as a policeman aware that vital safety equipment was stolen off Holyhead seven class lifeboat .David set about raising funds over the next 18 months to buy the Smartwater kits for the Anglesey stations to help protect the vital safety equipment , The colourless liquid solution called Smartwater, which is dabbed on to valuables to identify them if they are stolen, Funding from the Holyhead and District Round Table will also purchase warning signs to be erected at the lifeboat stations to deter would-be thieves. A big thank you to PC David Owen and local police and the round table for all their help and kindly donating the Smartwater kits and warning signs to the four RNLI lifeboat stations.
